What Is AI Upscaling?

In order to improve the printable resolution, you can upscale the image with a factor of 4x and thereby increase the size of the printed image.

With Viesus, you can technically upscale an image with up to factor 16x, although we recommend a maximum upscaling of 8x in order to prevent artificial results.

Image compression is usually applied when an image is send through a social media channel or via a messaging app, like whatsapp.

The compression decreases the file size of an image, by reducing the available information, such as image details, in order to save bandwidth in the sending process.

As a result, the image quality is diminished and the image can show image artifacts, which appear as rugged edges and color blocks (blocking).
